The Birth of Antares

01 Feb, 2022

During the isolation and opacity of the distances, inner strength grew as well as the exacerbation of magical thinking and questions about love, which appeared as bursts of melancholy after nocturnal visits to the forest. There, delirium takes control of fear and sadness is camouflaged within eroticism. With a sudden movement, the trees shake their branches, and trembling, they become bridges with ancient times. At the climax of the ceremony, the idea of self-extinction appears as a sacrifice in order to restore the original order of the cosmos, or perhaps the chaos of one's own inner world? Where does this longing for the truth that can never be found comes from? Bleeding, the initiatory redemption is manifested. I don't feel like a man or a woman, flesh nor ether, I am already the genesis of something new. The natural exceeds us and eros is the cure for the original fear, the antidote to madness. Death becomes a myth. Meanwhile, Antares, a dying star and one of the brightest, points the most resplendent route, right in the heart of Scorpio. - *This is a work reflecting methaphorically on dealing with depression, suicide and the willing to remain alive.

Yawar Wayta

My name means Blood Flower and Blood that Blooms at the same time. With my work I want to explore the capacity that images have to allow us approach other worlds between the frontier of the human and the supernatural. The enigma, God, violence and tenderness are concepts that seem to me to be part of a puzzle of something that is outside our rational understanding. The images allow me to access layers beyond reality, turning identifiable places into supernatural and timeless moments. Images are powerful and our ancestors understood it a long time ago.
