"A trip back to the imagination, which approaches psychoanalysis, starting a therapeutic and expressive attempt to use the medium as a sounding line for the exploration and reconciliation with oneself.  A colour that warms the eye with an almost pictorial materiality and no binding history, a vague esoteric and occult presence that hovers over everyday life. The eye extracts disquietude from the shadow, from the flesh as well as from wood. The visual universe evokes Serrano, the color palette Bacon, the world is called upon like in a rite of initiation. The results are both painful and cathartic" (Giovanni Fiorentino)

About the photographer

Valerio Polici

Valerio Polici lives in Roma and he starts his photographic research with the project Ergo Sum. Subsequently, he takes part in ‘LAB/ per un laboratorio irregolare’ of Antonio Biasucci. In a collective exhibit in 2017, the Galleria del Cembalo shows his first works, in which strongly becomes evident that photography is his privilege medium for a journey in the past, to sublimate fears and reconcile with his inner self. Two years after, his work comes back, stronger than before, and keeps going into the same direction. Ergo Sum has already been exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2016 and at MACRO in Rome in 2017.
